This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for manufacturing, quality, process engineering, and facilities/maintenance. This includes continuous improvement, manpower allocation, budgeting, training, job tracking, scheduling priorities and production, 6S, and other general activities for the production floor.

He or she must be able to work cooperatively with department managers to coordinate daily activities in the manufacturing area. Must be able to work in a matrix organization by coordinating support functions and working with management team to assure that overall customer needs are met. Must possess exceptional analytical, observational, and retention skills in order to identify issues and follow up to assure closure and resolution. Must be willing to take advantage of continuing education opportunities to stay abreast of company initiatives and lean management skills to assure capabilities grow in support of the overall business strategy and expansion plans.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor s Degree required; preferably in Engineering but may consider other fields
  • 8-10 years of work experience in a manufacturing or similar industrial environment with 3-5 years of management experience
  • Must understand lean manufacturing concepts and be able to apply the principals (6S and general housekeeping) to motivate others to maintain a clean and orderly work area. Certification preferred
  • Excellent MS Excel skills
  • Analytical; uses data to identify process corrections and adjustments to resolve issues or difficult jobs
  • Understands the balance of scheduling and priorities in a make-to-order manufacturing environment
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills to monitor key metrics in the manufacturing area, including costs, throughput, quality, on time delivery, etc.

  • Oversee all throughput, priorities, and quality within manufacturing
  • Hire, train, and motivate direct reports in production and support functions
  • Align team efforts to ensure successful execution of the Company business strategy
  • Assess strengths, opportunities, and training requirements for team members
  • Assist in hiring process, conduct performance evaluations, recognize proactive behavior and address unacceptable behavior
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment
  • Ensure quality assurance standards are met to achieve customer specification on a regular basis
  • Drive lean manufacturing techniques and motivate employees to participate and suggest improvements through the Kaizen, 6S, visual management, and standardization of processes
  • Measure and report suggestions, implementation and follow up data to demonstrate improvements
  • Manage scheduling to balance large production orders with small, quick turn orders to maintain on-time delivery and customer delivery expectations within manufacturing
  • Maintain administrative tasks such as reporting for attendance, vacation schedules, over time requirements, key performance metrics, scrap, quality, etc.
  • Schedule and support regular preventive maintenance and immediate repairs to ensure equipment operation
  • Work in partnership with Sales, Customer Service, Production Control, and Engineering to coordinate efforts within manufacturing so that customer expectations are met
  • Participate in the monthly forecasting and planning (SPI) process
  • Perform all other job functions as required
