As a Lead Architect, the candidate will join the BFS Architecture function and work closely with stakeholders to create and maintain the technical strategy and roadmap within their specialist area.

Overall Purpose of role
The BFS Lead Data Architect will lead the effort across related data architecture domains within Barclays to further develop and implement data practices across its portfolio of applications and programs. This role will work with the IT Service Management leadership, IT service owners, process owners and various service delivery groups to develop technical solutions that satisfy the business needs of the bank to a high quality, in conjunction with other members of the Architecture & Engineering teams.
Key member of the technical & architectural team developing and managing the IT enterprise data model, supporting its adoption and ongoing maintenance
* Work with senior stakeholders to perform analysis of business processes, systems and data to evolve the ServiceNow and other key repository Data Models to ensure it is relevant and useful to the Business
* Leverage the data model and related artifacts to develop and maintain the business glossary and supporting Meta data repositories (when available)
* Develop the overall architecture and tools landscape for BFS data flows
Key Accountabilities
* Create and maintain a logical model of data curated by BFS - with a specific focus on ServiceNow Data.
* Production of technical standards and guidelines for data design and models. Identifying and assessing associated technologies.
* Highlight (and help to resolve) disparity and ambiguity in current usage.
* Recommend changes to physical data models owned by BFS in line with best practice.
* Review the BFS system landscape through a data architecture lens, identify opportunities to simplify and harmonize, reduce redundancy and so on.
* Provide architectural and design oversight to ensure all solutions are fit for purpose and use.
* Analysis and ratification of requirements in-line with current agile delivery process
* Work closely with BA's, Architects, Testing team and process teams
* Ensure gaps are clearly identified and reported to BA/stake holders
* Produce architectural documentation where ever necessary
* Take respective ownership as an individual contributor throughout the project lifecycle
* Involve in Proof of concept activities and provide best possible solution to customer's/stake holders
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
The role demands liaison with many stakeholders across BFS and within the Technology organization. The GTIS data repositories support a disparate user base across businesses that have historically enjoyed considerable autonomy. Listening to and understanding the needs of these users, whilst delivering a coherent, consistent data model, is a particular challenge requiring diplomacy, confidence and authority.

Has documented and analyzed alternative IT and operational solutions, risks and benefits, and obtained decision on resolution
* Can identify common types of risks / issues and where project dependencies exist; maintains simple RAID
Basic Qualifications/Skills
Bachelor's Degree in computer science or systems engineering and/or equivalent years of work experience.
8+ years of overall work experience in the data field, including having strong analytical skills to understand business processes, systems and data flows.
5+ years of experience working as a Data Architect with superb problem solving and data analysis skills.
8 + years of practical experience with data models, data flow diagrams, capturing and using meta-data, metadata modeling, relational databases and bridge forward/ bridge back data techniques.
8+ years of solid understanding of how a technology infrastructure organization works, the concepts, functions and typical systems.
3+ years of experience and exposure to the follow key modules in ServiceNow is required:
* Incident/Problem/Change
* CMDB
* Discovery
* Orchestration (Preferable, not essential)
* Knowledge
* Service (Request) Catalog
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
ITIL v3 foundation understanding and certification is highly desirable.
* Architecture Framework Certification (e.g. TOGAF) an advantage
* Banking/financial services experience is preferable but not essential
* Certified ServiceNow System Administrator
* Certified ServiceNow Application Developer
Certified ServiceNow Implementation Specialist
